Our museum is open seasonally May 1st through October 1st. The building is the original Hubbard County Courthouse built in 1900. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10:30a.m. to 4:30p.m.  Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. We are located at 301 Court Street in Park Rapids, MN.  Tours are available. Please call ahead if you have a large group, (218) 732-5237. Call for details about our programs.

The interior of the museum retains the original tin ceilings, eight vaults, and the gilded 14 karat gold lettering on the office doors.  Your visit offers an opportunity to delve into the beginnings of our county.  Each room depicts a different aspect of early life in the area.  We encourage you to take a step back in time and enjoy learning about the history of our community.

The museum is host to thousands of visitors each year, which is remarkable considering the size of the community and that we are only open from May to October. Our visitors are all favorably impressed by what they see and do not expect to find such a wonderful museum in a small town like ours. We are very proud of the accomplishments in our museum and feel that we perform a valuable service to the citizens of Park Rapids and surrounding communities. We provide a cultural and educational center, and by its location, a historical setting in which to preserve the nature of our rich cultural heritage. The museum does not charge admission; donations are our main source of income.  Membership to the Hubbard County Historical Society offers the opportunity to support the museum, receive our quarterly newsletter and listen to guest speakers at our monthly meetings.

We have the following Fund Raisers planned for 2013

Wrangler’s Chuck Wagon Dinner Saturday June 21, 2013 at the American Legion in Park Rapids. Roast Beef Dinner, Baked Potato, Baked Beans and a Sourdough Biscuit with an Ice Cream Sundae for dessert. Tickets are being pre sold for $9.00 each, mail your check to the museum and we will mail you a ticket! Silent Auction items are needed for that evening also, your support is greatly appreciated!
